DIY

Hello My Smitten's

Happy Memorial Day!  Since today is a holiday (for which I have to work) I decided to take a break from nails (WOWZERS) and show you the project that I have been working on.

I love HGTV and The DIY Network.  I am always watching them to get ideas of things to do when I am ever so blessed to purchase a house one day.

This is how I used to store my polishes.  It was horrible because since everything was piled in together it was hard for me to keep track of the polishes.  You have no idea how many times I have purchased a new polish only to come home and find that I already had it.

Additionally, I wanted to be able to look at my polishes, not only to keep track of what I have, but to be surrounded by happiness.  I know it may sound ridiculous to some, but this addiction hobby makes me very happy.  After a long day or at the end of a long grueling week it totally relaxes me to sit down and do my nails.

I had seen these shelves in my Dad's garage for months.  My Dad is a pack rat on the verge of being a hoarder.  I remember as a little girl my Dad would "dumpster dive" and bring things home and my Mother would scream at the top of her lungs to get that trash out of the house lol.  So I basically viewed the shelves as some junk in the garage.

But when, I started contemplating buying some helmers to organize my polishes.  I realized that I wanted to organize my polishes in a manner where I could see them at all times.  Those shelves sure weren't looking so much like junk anymore lol.

I gathered those shelves and cleaned them really well and set them up.

Now as I previously mentioned I do not own a home yet but when I do I know that I will have a polish room.  For that reason I did not want to paint the shelves now because I don't know what color/theme my polish room will be down the road.  However,  these shelves were bland and need a touch of pizzaz so I decided to decorate them with construction paper.

I had even began adding my polishes to the shelves.  Don't you think it needed to be jazzed up too?

It took me 4 weeks and many many hours to decorate and pack the shelves but I am finally done.

Here they are, all done.  You like?

Thanks for stopping by :)

Be sure to follow my journey to healthier nails (tab above or click here).  I finally had a breakthrough; I'm seeing growth.
